The Borough Engineer position is also responsible for designing, bidding, and recommending award, and overseeing construction of Capital Improvement Projects as determined by the Commissioners.
As the Board Engineer/Planner for the combined Longport Planning/Zoning Board, the Municipal Engineer provides technical assistance to the Zoning Officer; prepares and recommends future land use information; prepares review reports for Board Applications; and assists in the preparation of zoning ordinance revisions and modifications for Borough Commission approval.
DUNE UPDATE:
Some Property Owners have expressed concern about whether what has happened in Margate will happen in Longport when the beachfill is constructed. The conditions in Margate that contributed to the ponding do not exist in Longport. The Beach Blocks for the portion of Margate where the ponding occurred drain from Atlantic Avenue to the Beach. In Longport, no Beach Blocks drain to the Beach, so there is no possible rainfall effect. More over, there is no need to excavate the Beach behind the dune to accommodate rainfall runoff. For these reasons, no ponding as occurred in Margate will occur in Longport.
