BIOGRAPHY - Wounded Warrior
U.S. Navy SEAL - Joseph Hahn

Joseph Hahn was born in Odessa, Texas on November 20, 1982. When he was four his mother died of cervical cancer. As his father was unable to care for him and his two siblings, Joe was placed in foster care where he lived in over 50 homes across central Texas until he graduated high school. Despite the obvious turmoil in his life, Joe graduated third in his high school class, earning multiple scholarships to attend Texas A&M University to pursue a Biomedical Science Degree. Joe was attending college when the 9/11 attacks occurred. Joe enlisted and spent 13 years in the United States Navy as a Special Operator First Class (SEAL). After completing Basic Underwater Demolition /SEAL training Class 252, he was stationed on a west coast team from 2005 – 2009 and deployed multiple times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). In 2009 Joseph Hahn completed rigorous Selection and Training for Naval Special Warfare Development Group where he was assigned at NSWTACDEVRON 4. At DEV 4 he deployed three times to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and to other undisclosed locations worldwide. During these deployments, he was involved in hundreds of capture/kill missions targeting the top terrorists worldwide. SO-1 Hahn conducted multiple advanced special operations that utilized tracking, following, and surveillance on multiple persons of interest. He also served on personal security details for US generals, U.S. elected officials, and foreign officials alike. He also developed and coordinated foreign internal defense (FID) training of Iraqi, Afghanistan and other foreign special forces units.

Some of his awards include the Purple Heart, Joint Meritorious Service Medal, 3x Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ Combat V, 2x Combat Action, 2x Presidential Unit Commendation, 2x Joint Unit Commendation, 4x Good Conduct, National Defense Service, Global War on Terror Service, Global War on Terror Deployment, Iraq Campaign, Afghanistan Campaign, 5x Sea Service Deployment, ISAF NATO, Expert Rifle, and Expert Pistol.

During two separate freefall workups for specific missions and deployments, SO-1 Hahn was catastrophically injured, shattering his left and right legs individually. Each injury required several surgeries and 8-10 months of recovery time before he was able to return to his unit. After two more deployments, the extent of his injuries was discovered, requiring more surgeries. Unable to fully recover and having sustained several TBI’s from explosions and IED’s while overseas, Joseph Hahn was medically retired in 2017.

Joseph Hahn and his wife, Morgan will be bringing four sons with them to the Jersey shore: Hunter (12); Blake (5); Clayton (3) and Gunner (18 mos). Joe currently subcontracts with various entities conducting training, personal security, and consulting while continuing to pursue his degree. He enjoys shooting, fishing, hunting, scuba diving, and currently teaching himself how to play guitar.
