The Following is a Statement from Mayor Nick Russo Addressing Previously Raised Complaints about Rats at the Boathouse Behind Borough Hall: I am happy to report that by initiating a “full court press” approach, we have at least won this battle against the rat complaint problem. We successfully closed up all holes in the boathouse, stepped up the professional extermination effort, stopped any employee eating in the boathouse and replaced a dumpster that was outside in our city parking lot. Upon close inspection, we realized that over the years the previous dumpster had acquired rust holes in the bottom, which provided access to a potential source for rodent food. The new dumpster, naturally, has no holes and has a better cover. Our challenge has been to keep residents from using it for their own personal trash and garbage. As a result, the City Administrator is requesting all city employees, including the police, firefighters and public works to note any individuals disregarding the signage stating that the dumpster is limited to Borough usage only. So for now, we firmly believe that we have the rodent situation under control and have had no complaints, since. ---- Mayor Nick Russo
