The National Weather Service – Mount Holly is predicting severe weather and a flood threat for Thursday, October 13th
Showers and some thunderstorms are expected during today; some showers this morning then more in the afternoon along with some thunderstorms. A few storms could become severe with locally damaging winds, especially if a narrow line of heavy showers and embedded thunder develops in the afternoon and early evening. It is important to note though that lightning could be limited today, however locally damaging winds can occur given strong winds not too far above the surface.
Hazardous Weather: Some severe thunderstorms possible which can produce locally damaging winds, and a weak brief tornado is possible. Some heavy rain is possible.
Locations affected: Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and the Maryland Eastern Shore.
Timing: Mainly between 3 PM and 10 PM today.
Impacts: Locally damaging winds could result in downed trees and wires leading to a few power outages. Locally heavy rain may lead to some flooding.
Confidence on occurrence: High confidence regarding the occurrence of heavy showers, but low confidence on the extent of thunderstorms and any related severe weather or flooding.
